SFF GRAVEL Ride 18 May 2025
Strawberry Fields Forever 1st Gravel Ride

Attention All GRAVEL riders:
As there are still a few paths we'd love to include in the Gravel ride (medium and long, The Brambleberry and Bushel, respectively), we are hoping the weather drains them in time for next week.
We won't be giving out the route ahead of time due to this as well as the sensitivity of the farmers/ranchers. But the elevation profiles will be coming this week and there will be +3k elevation gains on the Bushel route (the combo of the 2 shorter routes). You'll have a wide swath of terrain, riding from the hard packed sand on our ocean beaches, all the way to Gizdich Ranch where the ice cream, pie and other goodies await you along those routes. Note: the shorter ride (The Strawberry) will include other areas.

This first edition of the gravel ride is primarily concerned with riders' safety and owners' trust. Add that to such beautiful scenery that has never been experienced on bikes, encapsulating why the Pajaro Valley is an eco-destination of diversity: Working ranches, farms and nurseries; good stretches of the levee and long stretches of the sloughs where migratory birds call their home in the Spring. I made it so that these routes are not the toughest ones for gravel events, but it is challenging AND gorgeous, to be savored, not raced.

Note: All routes will be available on a map for everyone with a mobile phone as all gravel participants will scan a QR code AFTER check in/registering the morning of the event!

Our ability to host another gravel ride in 2026, with potentially earlier route reveals, hinges on riders demonstrating respect for the working properties and all pedestrians encountered on the levees and sloughs.

Also, if you are not an adult (ages 16-17) you'll have to also have a guardian sign the waiver forms with you before riding!

And should an unforeseen cloud burst happen a day or two before the ride, we will make certain adjustments accordingly, so that we don't carve out new agricultural paths on certain trails turning them into 'peanut butter mud alleys, making the rider and the owners unhappy.

Thanks for your patience and being on board with the local ranchers, farmers and State Parks all willing to cooperate!

We’re excited to share this ride with you and thank the ranch and farming community for their support!
